 what have i achieved from this unit?

i think this unit has been brilliant i have really enjoyed it but i have to admit i found it really hard to be honest i thought it would be easy but it isn't you have to have a lot of patients.i have leaned the difference between film and TV to stage acting THERE VERY DIFFERENT ..
i have gained a lot of experience and learned different techniques from this unit that i can use in the further future.i have also leaned how to not be embarrassed and just get on with it no matter how many people are watching around you.i did find it hard and abit stressful but that's only because if people arnt in or don't turn up it stops everybody else from doing scenes so you have to be in.also you have to keep calm because i learned that once one person is stressed they get everybody else stressed so JUST KEEP CALM!... i am happy with what i did in this unit it was a great experience and i leaned how to cope with doing it.i have also learned how the world of film and TV goes on and i have really enjoyed working with new people. but.... i am very afraid of what its going to look like on screen.

film and TV actors have to have alot of Patience and have to be always focused.because they need to see that there is alot of important things about the costumes,set,props and the character also the other actors. but the problem is if they don't understand the importance of the technical things they wont be able to give the best performance.

big thing >> TIME IS MONEY PEOPLE!!
mucking up lots and laughing on camera while recording is wasting time and money.if you do make mistakes then just forget about it and start again this uses less film instead of going "omgg i cant believe that dammm" just say cut and start again.also when the scene has finished don't walk off and start talking stay still till the directer is happy and she/he say cut.

camera operator- operate the camera for lots of different shots in scenes.
boom operator - operates the boom for the microphone.

the camera
in film and TV the camera can shot in a range of different ways .the camera can be moved to different places during the shots eg hand held,Steadicam etc... the actor has to be aware of which camera is filming or they will just be looking the wrong way :L

the microphone
the microphones are usually held above the actors when there on set, they can be fixed but they use the booms more often because you can here the actors speak better.the microphones that are used in films are very sensitives so you don't need to use the vocal techniques what you use in theatre.

the scene
i found this scene to be the hardest. because it was in the common room with lots of people watching that we didn't know because well its the common room and people were on there break. we when thought it but the camra people kept says we weren't loud enough but we were it was just because the students were to loud because they were talking so we had to come in a different day and start everything again. but that wasn't what i found hard it was when we started again .
when we were doing the scene we kept making mistakes and laughing so we had to control or self's and constantrate but once you start you find it really hard to stop so we tuck a break and calmed down. i felt like this was really hard and you couldn't do this if it was a real job every time they film it costs alot of money :/ so we all calmed down and did it in the end :)

were there any problems?
the director said we had to talk louder which we did but people around us were talking so i found that hard to talk loud without sounding like we were shouting , also me and Chloe which were the two kinder side kicks of the boss we had to be more over the top like America girls. so we had to say like "OMG , im soooo jel! " it was very embarrassing to be honest but i guess that's acting :)

what went well?
well we got all the positioning right and we got plenty of bits from different angles.i think in the end its turn out to be ok to be honest so yer i did enjoy doing this scene in the end.

about the fantasy scenes

what was very different about this movie was this girl had her reality life but she also saw her life in fantasy which was very hard because of these fantasy scenes we had to get our make done like we where in a panto so we did all these scene sfirst because the make up people could only do it in the first week which was a good thing really because we could just get all them make up scenes done and out of the way then on the last 2 weeks we could concentrate on the reality scenes instead . it was alot of waiting around because the make ups where so over the top they tuck really long to do. i was one of the mean girls so i looked like an ugly sister :( i was gutted because it just looked stupid but i guess that was the point really.

 in the fantasy prom scenes i found it really hard because we didn't talk so it was all about the facial expressions and i still had to be over the top so when we did these fantasy scenes it was like we where doing theatre because we had to act very over the top and we were dresses with silly make up and costumes.

 <<<  this was the make up we had done when we were in fantasy scenes .

how is film and tv acting different from theatre acting ?

film and TV acting very different from theatre acting in so many ways . firstly the Carma's pick everything up like your facial expressions and what little things your wearing like jewellery . it shows what habits and what the character does more because it has more closes and more focused. also everything has to be the same if you filming on different days the clothes the envorment around you your facial expressions,your gestures and the way you talk.. everything really because it picks everything up.a big thing is the positioning of the characters because you have to be in the same place every time you stop filming and then start again. and you cant improvise like you can on stage so you can do nothing that's not expected because the camera has to follow you so if you move some were were the Carma cant see you. also the positioning of the characters you have to do it all like its natural and natural gestures because its film and TV your not going to be over the top like you are in theatre. so when your in the moment it has to be realistic and convincing to the camera.

also in film and TV YOU HAVE TO HAVE ALOT OF PATIENCE'S!  because you do alot of waiting around before you start shooting because they need to check everything is in place.

there are alot of things that are very different between these two acting styles but things are still similar like you still have to project your voice as the microphone picks up everything around it and you have to know who and what your character is and like. also there is still alot of preparation still has to be done when getting things ready.

These are all questions that you are familiar with as they were featured in the DVD that we watched last week, which explained how to prepare for a role in film or TV. 

o   Who is your character? - im Rachael , there are 3 bitches and im one of them . I walk around with my twin and our leader and all me and my twin do is copy of the leader. She im going to be the thick blonde girl that’s really just a copy cat.

o   What is their personality like? – well im going to be the dumb one that always confused. And because I don’t have a clue whats going on I just copy off the leader and my twin. She is very smiley all the time and she just nods her head at everything. She doenst like getting in trouble well when she realises she is .

o   How do they feel about other characters?  - She just goes with the flow but trys to be a bitch about it because she doesn’t no what is going on but just copys her leader.she just really is just one of the pretty girls in the popular gang. You could say she is really just there for show.

o   What do they do? – she just walks around being one the popular girls and when the leader is a bitch to some one or is bullying them she repets some things she says after just because she has to be one the bitches. She walks around with her gang and they all bully people but she doesn’t join in she just says little things now and then.

o   What is their emotional condition? – shes just happy and just goes with the flow because she doesn’t no whats going on really , also when some one insults her or tells her to shut up she like “what? , why?” because hse is so stupid!

o   What is their mental condition?  - she is just normal but comes across as not a bright girl.

o   What is their physical condition?  - She is healthy and normal just abit dipsy.

o   How does your character speak?  - Like slow and confused because she is dipsy . so she just repeat what her leader says and just goes with it.

o   How does your character move? - Like there is a three so she will be a the back with her twin with her leader at the front.

o   Where in the script is there tension? – when the boy friend finished the leader there is a bit of shock so there is a lot of tension.

o   When in the script is there humour?  - when the leader throws a drink at the princess every bodys shocked ish.

o   Where in the script is there a turning point for your character? – don’t have one she is still a bitch.

o   Where in the script is there a turning point for the story? - I think the turning point for the story is when the princess get the boy.

How do the actors ‘cheat’ the shots?

well when sheldon is sitting at the table a is sat facing like the side not at the phone see if that was real we would face the phone.

What are the actors’ vocal skills like? 

when the man is in the little room pumping the helium in the room he talk a bit quite but enough to hear him.

How detailed are the actors’ performances?

when sheldon relises that his voice goes weird he starts touching his neck to show that he knows it his thoat.

Why do you think the actors’ performances are appropriate for film/TV acting?

yes because when they start laughing at his voice they show they are really laughing and find it funny so it works

i think when sheldon starts talking to the man he acts all proper and smart and this is good because is shows he is doing some thing important.

Can you explain how you would have performed the scene differently, and why?

if i was sheldon i would probley try and make it abit more funnyer by i dont no touching the air or trying the cough more to see if its my thoat.

when leonard jumps up and just stays still at the wall i dont think you would do that you would keep running well thats what i would do , but obvisly he stays still because they want to see his face .

when sheldon pops up they both shout so show leondard was scared ov sheldon shouting .

well leondard jumps up and sharts beathing pretty fast so the shows he just got scared.

because you can catch that on camra what sheldon just did and its something that could happen.

i think when leondard put the laptop down and laid back in the chair and covered his eye he showed that there was something wrong and that he was upset with what he did over the computer.

if i was leonard i would have probley triped over when runnig away :P

well they look all tired like amys in a dressing gown and she looks drowsy.

i like how leonard bangs on the bongos to wake him up its funny how he starts laughing at what he just did and amys like thats not called for and he says aww it was called for :D hahaa that was funny.

if i was amy i would have probley sracasticly sed that was uncalled for :P

things that happened in the 1700s

Women were allowed to act in a theatre since 1660 and not before that. Before 1660 young boys used to play the role of a women because they still had a high voice and their muscles hadn't grown properly yet .

done monologue

i did my monolouge yesturday and i think it went really well exsept from me being nearly sick at thw end but apart from that yer i think it was ok. i spoke loud enough for people to hear me and i did it pretty slow .

also i added more blocking in it so i sat at the chair doing my makeup and then i get this photo out of my pocket and then start going offit and throw the photo on the floor. but because i love it so much i run over and pick it up to go and sit back on my chair. i remembered most of my lines and i added my facial exspressations in it so u could tell when i was upset and when i had an idea.

right well we have had lots of ideas for our scenee first we were going to wear and do everything the same are the time the piece was made in but then because of costumes and props were found it hard so we just changed what we wear and what we do to in the time but with obviously the same Shakespeare language.

right we have been off for a week

 i have figured out what i am going to do and change for my monologue. i have leaned my lines and added pauses in to it so this time i will slow it down instead of rushing it .also because Sonya told me that my character is sooo obsessed with this boy i have to show that i am. for example keep a picture in my bra or have photo at the side of the table and stroke it so it looks like I'm abit weird but also to show i am totally in love with him.

so when i do my monologue I'm going to to just get this photo and i think i will talk in to my mirror for a awhile then when i get angry about love i will rip up the photo or put it in the bin and then get it back out and sit on the floor looking at it so really i look a little bit crazy :P

presentation!

yesterday was when we did our presentation to Sonya and some others students. i really liked mine i enjoyed doing it. but i think i may have read it out really fast and i was finished in the matter of 5 ish minutes ... i think because i had a little bit of butterfly's i just tryed to get it done but that's not really what i should do . i should take my time and explain more but i just talk abit to fast , when we do it again next time I'm going to talk more slowly and explain more. also i don't think i read off the board because i know your suppose to understand whats going on and you have got to know what u are talking about and i did i tryed to explain as much as i could remember but i think i need to do more research.

aslo i need to add things about ym script work in to it and talk about that.

dammm!

today we acted our monologues in front of Sonya and Amy. and to be honest i don't think i think i tried my hardest. i rushed it and forgot to stay in character and move around.these pass few week i have been so obsessed with remembering my lines i forgot to learn who and what my character is and what movement i was going to do. so if i could change it i would not be so obsessed with remembering my line but also concentrate on who and what my character would do and how she would react in my monologue. also i would put the pauses in it i think because i bugged it up the first time, i just wanted to get it over and done with because i couldn't remember my lines i forgot to be the character i was and forgot to use the movement.

all i no is that in the future i will remember when i get something to learn i will have to remember the learn who and what my character is but still learn my lines.

i have came in today to do some work even thought i don't have to because I'm mint like that :3,, any who today i have just done some presentation work really and just gone though my monologue :)

today i have been on the computer all day just finishing of my presentation that i have to do about my monologue and about Shakespeare. i have include most of the things i had to write about. i will show a picture at the bottom of one of the sides i have done. now i have finished my presentation i can just consatrate on my monologue and my script work :)

i remeber when we got the tour around the man said "that is where the royal people would sit so eg queen elizabeth". he also asked why do you think they would want to sit up there because if there behind the stage and behind the actors they wouldnt see much so why would they want to sit up there and the anwser was so they could be seen :I ...............STUPID ROYALS!

about the the globe

helloo! right this is a pictureof the shakespeare globe, and i had taken when i went to london with the college :)

i just done some reseach because im cool :)
so here is some facts about the globe:

• Elizabethan theatres attracted huge crowds - up to 3000 people
•  Shakespeare and his company built TWO Globe Theatres!
• The Globe theatre started building in 1597 and it was finished in 1598
• There was no heating in the Globe theatre. Plays were performed in the summer months and transferred to the indoor playhouses during the winter
• to show what plays were on the flags were erected on the day of the performance which sometimes displayed a picture advertising the next play to be performed.
• Colour coding was used to advertise the type of play to be performed - a black flag meant a tragedy , white a comedy and red a history.

1st feb wednesday 2012

hello! - 1st Feb Wednesday 2012
today we had independent study, scenes work and rehearsing monologue's :)

1st script work (the way of the world)
i did this task in my group and today we went threw the script first so we all knew when we came in and then we go on our feet and started to block it. we did have a few good ideas but we have decided to put only the ones we could actually do in our scenes for example (when we hind Mrs mar wood we were going to put her in a box but i thought that it would look stupid and not really what people would do in them days so we are just hindering her behind curtains now ). then we had to talk about what costumes and props we would need and use . i decide instead of basing the clothes around 1600th we are going to do it more up to date so i have chosen to wear a black skirt with a white shirt and blazer because my character is very upper class and posh so i am going to wear like a suit kinder style.

2nd independent study ( monologues)
on the afternoon i went threw my monologue i sat down for most of the time because i really just wanted to get it in to my head so i wouldn't forget it, so i sat on my own and leaned it. how i leaned it was by writing down a word or two words next to each sentence so i didn't have to keep reading it threw i just remember these little sections of what the next line is and now i feel i easy to remember what is next. i now know my monologue : )

first day on here!

right this is my fisrt day on here ! soo anyway all i have done today is learn my monalogue and my script! and im very pround because i know it all! :D ,, i still sometime get two lines mixed up but i will be ok by next week . hopfully :L
